Marcel’s Jazz House
Visual Language | Photography | Adobe Illustrator | Photoshop
Inspired by my best friend—a jazz musician—and his cat Marcel, this project is a vibrant celebration of music, personality, and color. Created for a Visual Language course, the assignment challenged us to explore layout, composition, and storytelling through environmental design.
The concept reimagines a jazz club storefront and mural, blending smooth vector forms, warm gradients, and bold outlines to reflect the rhythm and energy of jazz. I aimed to create a welcoming atmosphere with a retro-futuristic twist, where the cat Marcel serves as both mascot and muse.
Tools like Adobe Illustrator were used to refine sketches into a cohesive large-scale piece, incorporating key design principles like hierarchy, movement, and balance. This project taught me the power of personal narrative in visual design—and how to bring character and warmth into public-facing work.
