Port Winterborne
Illustration | Adobe Illustrator | Art Deco Travel Poster
This illustrative poster was for one of my projects from my Visual Language class during my time at BCIT. The premise of the assignment was to create a magazine ad that took inspiration from specific design eras during the 20th and 21st century. I chose the Art Deco/Streamline era of design for my work since I found it to be the most interesting to work with at the time.
I wanted to create a travel ad for a fictional city named "Port Winterborne" that tourists may want to visit. Apart from this, my aim was to incorporate three main subjects (the lady with the car, the ship and the airplanes) to create one cohesive scene that would demonstrate the technological advancements of the Art Deco/Streamline era.
I started with gathering images that I would use as inspiration or as a point of reference. From there, I started working on various sketches which I later refined. Afterwards, I used the final sketch I created and started designing on Adobe Illustrator. When creating the poster, I wanted to create a sense of nostalgia, warmth and movement within the ad, almost leaning towards a dream-like atmosphere.
